Hi Folks,
The great news is no yachts here were damaged during Typhoon Bopha and all our yachties safe and sound and busy putting their boats back together after packing it all up preparing for the worst. Sadly though, there are many other areas of Palau that were badly hit by the Typhoon, luckily no lives lost in Palau. I'd like to pass along the details below for Rotary Club of Palau who are co-ordinating a donation drive to purchase much needed supplies and distributing to affected areas.
RE: Request for Donations for Victims of Typhoon Bopha
Typhoon Bopha caused severe damage to residents of Palau when it passed through Palau on early Monday morning, December 3, 2012. The east coast States of Ngaraard, Ngiwal, and Melekeok, as well as the southern States of Peleliu and Angaur, bore the brunt of Typhoon Bopha’s fury, leaving over 300 people without homes. Thankfully, no lives were lost.
The Rotary Club of Palau, District 2750, is accepting financial contributions towards purchasing of much-needed supplies to assist the people in those State rebuild their lives. Monetary contributions will be applied to purchase of drinking water, fuel, dry goods and toiletry/hygiene kits for the immediate use, as well as for supplies to rebuild and/or refurnish homes.
Donations can be made to Rotary Club of Palau, or deposited to Rotary Club of Palau’s Typhoon Bopha Relief Account at the Bank of Hawaii-Koror Branch:
